Drought risk modeling is complex. Identifying impacts of drought on food security requires basic knowledge of food security concepts and understanding of pathways that link drought events to hunger and malnutrition. A regional analysis is context specific. Perspectives from local stakeholders are crucial in understanding challenges and proposing sustainable solutions. After explaining basic concepts related to food security, we will present the context and challenges related to drought in Zimbabwe, illustrated by concrete actions in addressing drought impacts on food security.

Daniel Rupp (Welthungerhilfe)
Mr Rupp is an agro economist graduated from ISTOM. After more than 10 years managing rural development programmes in Asia and Africa, he is now advising project teams on several topics such as sustainable food and nutrition security, disaster risk reduction/ resilience, value chain development and entrepreneurship. Mr Rupp is the coordinator for Globedrought project within Welthungerhilfe.
Constance Pepukai (FAO Zimbabwe)
Ms. Constance Pepukai holds a MSc degree in Agriculture Economics, Masters Certificate in Natural Resource and Environmental Economics and a BSc in Agricultural Economics.
Ms Pepukai has solid experience in the agriculture, food and nutrition security sector. She leads the development and implementation of projects within the humanitarian and development nexus in the FAO Zimbabwe Country Office.
